10 years ago, the Fishermen’s Marketing Association San Diego was formed to help create a deeper relationship between the commercial fishing community and the greater public of San Diego. Since its inception, the organization has ebbed and flowed in activity. Today, thanks to a grant from the US Department of Agriculture, the Association is on its way to becoming self-sustaining.

The efforts of the marketing association include:

• Creating a marketing strategy to represent all commercial fishermen in San Diego

• Developing critical infrastructure to support our fishing industry

• Launching a Seafood Festival

• Helping develop the first-ever Fish Auction on the West Coast

• Strengthening awareness, appreciation, and support of our local commercial fishermen
